March 2007: Guyana and Tobago

In March, 2007 we visited Guyana, starting with Georgetown and followed with a quick trip to Kaieteur Falls. After a couple days we flew into the interior around the Rupununi River, visiting Diane McTurk and her orphan giant river otters at Karanambu Ranch. We followed the main road between Brazil and Georgetown to Iwokrama Forest Reserve and spent a few days in the rainforest looking for birds and jaguars. We finished with a great bird-watching tour at Shanklands on the shore of the giant Essequibo River. We left Guyana and stopped in Tobago for a few days before returning home.
